Preliminary studies – Townscape Appraisal
To investigate a place based on townscape assessment for its characteristic evaluate and purpose opportunities and producing responsive environment analysis within a given urban context, the townscape appraisal exercise comprises of nine elements and to produce analysis with 1 macro and 1 micro site
Project 1B
Architectural Design Strategy
develop an architectural design strategy for an Urban Heritage Gallery in Pudu, focusing on interpreting the concept for the community. This involves reflecting on issues and inspirations from Project 1a to enhance public realm qualities like character, continuity, and movement. At this stage, students must explore form-typologies through 1:100 models, experimenting with layering, subtraction, and overlapping.
Project 1C
Architecture for place-making
The architectural design strategy should focus on form, activity, circulation, and integrating technical and service concepts for a 3-5 storey Urban Heritage Gallery (1200-1300 m²). The design must respond to community and context, addressing structural, spatial, technical, environmental, and legislative needs. It should emphasize tropical design, lighting, façade, and building envelope coherence, with strong integration of construction, theory, building services, and green strategies.
